Built in 1891, the 10-story Security Building originally housed a bank and office space. The Historic Restoration and Renovation was partially funded by the National Park Service and Brownfield tax credits, and the project is one of the few LEED certified buildings also on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Lawrence Group, the project developer and architect, is the building's largest tenant, and they were compelled to "go green" after a presentation by Vertegy. The decision allowed integration of the targeted sustainability initiatives into the design and construction, and resulted in conversion of this once-condemned building to Class A office space and conference center.
